They promote understanding and personal responsibility for the course, use and organization of time. The time runs backwards on a normal dial. The coloured disc representing the passage of time is divided into three coloured zones: green = sufficient time, yellow = 8 minutes remaining, red = 3 minutes remaining until the signal tone.
