The world has made advances on many fronts, but no country has achieved gender equality. International Women’s Day is celebrated globally each year on March 8. Featured are women in the fields of medicine, science, caregiving (to the young and old), construction and architecture, photography (those who bear witness), and music, justice, agriculture, and the arts and writing (those who share and record significant events and viewpoints), and various trades.
Thoughtfully illustrated by Jennifer Orkin Lewis, whose artwork captures the essence of women who have the courage and determination to make social, economic, cultural, and political changes for the future.
Recommended for ages 8 and up.
